Some of the reasons for the new date are: Canada Cup will now be the true end of season tournament allowing local leagues to finish in time for the event More Elite-level teams from Europe and Asia will be able to make the trek over to Canada as their leagues seasons are finished The new date avoids the Easter Weekend - enjoy that time with your families. We are also excited to let everyone know that four professional Czech floorball officials - Petr Cerny, Jiri Janousek, Daniel Bartosek and Michael Bartosek - will take part in the tournament and provide high-level officiating in the elite division and beyond. Their experience will help our event improve and give our own officials and players a chance to learn from some of the best officials in the sport. All four officials are nominated to officiate at the 2008 World Floorball Championships. We are also proud to announce that M-Team, a Finnish team competing in the Finnish 1st division, will be joining the 2009 Canada Cup Elite Division. M-Team's squad will truly bring the elite games to the next level. According to some rumours a top junior team from Linkoping, Sweden and Finnish "Harlem Globetrotters" Finnsta are considering taking part. She celebrated her 20th birthday with contributing a stunning one goal and five assists performance versus FBC Engelholm on Saturday, giving her the Player of the Game award. Sara also lead her team to a 6-5 away victory versus Pixbo on Sunday. With collecting two assists and scoring the game-winner with 2.18 left of the third period, she helped putting Täby in the play-off spot of the women’s Elitserien. There are several reasons:1. Our main venue, York University, is unavailable during the Easter Weekend2. A May date would truly mark the end of the floorball season and make it easier for European teams to attend because their playoffs are over3.
